Privacy Policy
Effective 22 September 2026
We collect what we need to get you on the right shuttle, and nothing we do not.
Who is responsible for your data
[Registered legal name — to be confirmed by Commute1], operating as Commute1, decides how your information is used. Our registered office is at [Registered address — to be confirmed by Commute1].
What we collect
- Your WhatsApp number. This is how the booking reaches you, and how we identify you when you come back.
- Your name. Asked once per booking, so the driver has a passenger list.
- Your travel details. Date, departure, seat numbers, pick-up and drop-off points, and your chosen language.
- Payment records. The transaction reference, amount, status and refund reference from our payment provider.
- Message logs. A record of the messages we send you, kept so we can investigate a ticket that did not arrive.
We do not collect or store your card number, UPI PIN, CVV, bank credentials or any other payment secret. Those are entered on our payment provider’s secure checkout and never reach our systems.
Why we use it
- To take and confirm your booking, and to send your QR ticket.
- To give the driver a passenger list for each departure.
- To process refunds when you cancel.
- To tell you about a delay or cancellation affecting a trip you have booked.
- To keep the accounting and tax records we are legally required to keep.
Messages you get from us
Booking confirmations, tickets, waitlist offers and trip updates are part of the service you asked for. If we ever want to send you offers or promotions, we will ask first, and you can stop them at any time by replying STOP in the chat — which will not affect the tickets and trip updates for trips you have booked.
Who else sees it
We share the minimum necessary with the providers that run the service:
- Our WhatsApp messaging provider, to deliver messages to your number.
- Our payment provider, to take payment and issue refunds. They receive the amount and booking reference; they handle your payment details directly, and we do not.
- Our hosting and database providers, which store the booking data on our behalf.
- The driver of your departure, who sees the passenger list for that trip only: name, seat, pick-up and drop-off.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising. We will disclose it if the law or a valid order from a public authority requires it.
Where it is stored
Booking data is stored in a database hosted in India. Some of our providers may process data outside India in the course of delivering messages or payments.
How long we keep it
- Booking and travel records for as long as needed to run the service and to meet accounting and tax obligations.
- Payment and refund records for the period Indian tax law requires.
- Message logs for a short period, long enough to investigate delivery problems.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it. We will do so unless we are required to keep a record — a paid booking has to stay in our accounts, for example. To ask, contact us using the details on the contact page, from the WhatsApp number you booked with, so we know the request is really from you.
Keeping it safe
Access to booking data is restricted to the Commute1 operations team. Data is encrypted in transit, and our database is not reachable directly from the public internet. No system is perfectly secure, but we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your information.
Children
The service is intended for adults. Children travel on a booking made by an accompanying adult, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, the effective date at the top of this page changes with it.
